The focus of the fifth international symposium of the Anthony Burgess Centre was Burgess's special relationship with France. His work as a writer, critic, journalist, translator and composer would often find sources of inspiration in French arts and culture. As frequent visitor and occasional resident, his personal as well as artistic life was enriched by contact with the country and its people.
